On Sverdlova 26 in Minsk there is an absolutely wonderful coffeehouse with a simple name ’26’. From the pictures I saw on Instagram, I guessed that it was hid somewhere in the courtyard of Sverdlova Street, but no, I was wrong – it was just my favorite game of space. Brickwork, garden benches, garlands of light bulbs and flags – like a playful patio of some Italian town
But really I do love coffee, but I am not an expert at all. When I see such a warm place like “26”, I know for sure that there should be something delicious inside. Recently, I’ve started to enjoy watching how new-fashioned coffee-making machines are operating, but it feels awkward to ask how to use them (after everyone I know has already managed to pass courses of fashionable coffee, but I’ve always been missing those). Only in “Nasha Kava” in Grodno, using the connections, I tried kemex-coffee, this concludes my knowledge.
In order not to sound like a stupid small town girl, I asked for a hot chocolate and Irish coffee. Hot chocolate was served in a huge mug, like in Friends with some small cookies, Irish coffee appeared with the dignity of the northern seas, in a cup, properly cooked (on top cold, from below hot, just as it should be, right?). We sat on the wonderful bar chairs by the bay window, overlooking the fountains near our university, drinking coffee and thinking about something. On that “outside street” it was cold and filthy, and on that “inside” street – calm and chill.
It seems to me that this is a great way to remember your vacation, just go in, take off your coat, take a cup of coffee, turn away from the bad weather and be on the sunny side. I do not know if it’s a daily thing, but on Sunday evening there was a DJ playing, so it was definitely not a quiet Minsk robot street, but this one – on which there are street musicians, stalls with practically everything, coffee, sweets and real living people with smiles and fluffy hair.
